From Passion to Pottery

The Past
In 2007, after a very successful career in graphic design. Allan returned to his passion for pottery.
Allan builds all his pieces from scratch – know as slab pottery – that is reflected in the form, function and décor of every piece.
The Present
Allan has been a member of The Potter’s Studio in Toronto since 2008 where artisans together to sharpen their skills and create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pottery. Today, over fifty members produce unique functional and artistic pieces in its not-for-profit cooperative, including raku and majolica. The philosophy and purpose of the Studio is to provide a place for developing potters to work, learn and to share ideas and expertise.
“I prefer hand building, a technique that allows you to create forms with clay and your hands
without using a throwing wheel. Before ceramicists invented the wheel, hand-building was the only way
to create functional and artistic ceramic forms.”
